Aluminium foil insulation may sometimes be referred to as aluminium foil membrane, vapour membrane, vapour control barrier or breathable vapour barrier (amongst others). The reason this material is referred to by so many different names is because of its multiple functions.

Insulates

Aluminium foil membrane provides thermal insulation, reducing heat loss via roof, wall floor or ceiling.

Our aluminium foil membrane is comprised of three main layers: the upper and lower layers of the membrane are made of a metallised polyethylene film. The aluminium coated polyethylene makes for a heat reflective surface that will provide effective insulation. The inner layer of the membrane is an extremely high tensile strength, PP network reinforced material, designed to strengthen and provide resistance against tearing. This inner part also acts as a heat absorption layer.

Compared to standard foil membranes, our product surpasses with its insulation properties; our foil membrane achieves a U-value of 0.35 with an 89mm stud wall.

Helps to Prevent Mould and Damp

Our foil membrane is fully waterproof. This property helps to prevent mould and damp, and reduces the risk of condensation. Once the membrane is applied, it acts as a barrier against water, moisture snow and dust.

Increases Efficiency of Under-Floor Heating

Systems Our foil membrane acts to reflect heat upwards and deflect cold downwards away from the subfloor. This prevents heat loss and in turn, increases the efficiency of the under-floor heating system. This membrane is easily cut and shaped to fit the required floor, and no specialist equipment is required to do so.
