What's the difference between chamfered and torus skirting?

A chamfered profile has a flat angled cut at the top edge, giving a clean, geometric look. A torus profile has a rounded, convex detail — slightly more traditional in appearance. Both are widely used in UK residential projects; chamfered and round suits contemporary interiors particularly well.

Can MDF skirting board be used in bathrooms?

Yes — this product is machined from moisture resistant MDF, making it suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, and other areas with elevated humidity. Ensure all cut ends are sealed before installation and apply a suitable topcoat for added protection.

How do I join skirting board at corners?

Internal corners are best handled with a scribed joint (one piece butted square, the other mitred to fit against it) or a 45° mitre. External corners use a standard 45° mitre on both pieces. MDF's consistent density makes it easy to achieve clean, accurate cuts with a mitre saw.

Do I need to prime MDF skirting board before painting?

No — these boards have already been twice primed in the factory. You can apply your finishing coat directly. For a very smooth finish, a light sand with fine-grit paper before painting is optional but not required.

How do I fix skirting board to a wall?

The three most common methods are: grab adhesive applied to the back of the board, lost-head nails driven through the face and punched below the surface, or screws and plugs into the masonry behind the plaster. Many installers combine adhesive with a couple of nails for a secure, flush fit.
