Description
Reinforcing Fibreglass Mesh – 160gsm
Heavy-duty fibreglass reinforcing mesh for rendering, plastering, tiling and external wall insulation systems. Alkali, water and age resistant – built to last.
This 160gsm reinforcing fibreglass mesh is a professional-grade solution for preventing cracking and improving the durability of render, plaster, screed and concrete. Coated with acrylic acid copolymer liquid, it delivers excellent resistance to water, alkalis and ageing – making it suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
it’s ideal for trade use on larger projects where consistent, reliable reinforcement is essential.
Key Features
- Heavy-duty 160gsm woven fibreglass construction
- Coated with acrylic acid copolymer for water, alkali and age resistance
- 4.5mm square grid pattern for optimal adhesion
- High tensile strength with good dimensional stability and elasticity
- Tear resistant, lightweight and easy to handle on site
- Suitable for interior and exterior use
- Corrosion resistant – won’t rust like metal alternatives
Applications
This mesh is widely used across construction and refurbishment projects, including: rendering and plastering over masonry and uneven substrates, external wall insulation (EWI) systems with acrylic, silicone, silicate and mineral renders, concrete, cement and screed reinforcement, crack repair on existing render, tiling as a reinforcement layer, and waterproof membrane and roofing felt reinforcement.
How to Use
Apply an even base coat of render or plaster to the required depth. While still wet, lay the fibreglass mesh over the surface and press it in lightly with a trowel, ensuring it is fully bedded. Overlap all joints by a minimum of 5cm. For best results, position the mesh within the first 50% of the render depth – the closer to the substrate, the better. Once the mesh is fully embedded, apply subsequent coats as required.

Amazon lumped this with bitumen roof tar but it’s too thick for roofing, much too high GSM which I later found. Don’t be fooled, just because other buyers may have bought with another product, they may have folloed like sheep like i did, and the algorithm keeps showing more. A costly and frustrateing mistake. I’m sure in the right environment this product is perfect so my review is about amazon, more than the product itself

I completely refurbished my flat garage roof. I kept the original felt in situ and repaired the holes. Then added 2 coats of liquid bitumen with this mesh sandwiched between. This added strength to the roof and will hopefully last for years to come
